The 03027F rain gauge mounting plate is specifically designed with mounting holes to fit the Oregon Scientific WMR series weather station. The 03027F mounting hardware kit allows a user to easily mount their WMR series rain gauge on a fence or deck rail, fence or deck post or on a ground post/elevated mast of your choosing.
The Weathermass rain gauge mounting plate was designed in New England and tested to withstand the rigors of a New England winter. The 03027F rain gauge mounting plate is made of 1/8" thick aluminum and white paint finished to minimize corrosion. Each mounting plate has strategically placed drain holes to allow rain emptied by the self dumping mechanism a place to flow away from the rain gauge electronics. The 03027F kit includes 2 1/4-20 U bolts for mounting on a ground post (not supplied in this kit) of 1" or 1.25" OD and hardware to mount your rain gauge.
So, if you already own a WMR series weather station and need to have an optimum way of using your station, you need the 03027F Oregon Scientific WMR series mounting plate.
We recommend placement of your WMR series rain gauge and solar transmitter at a spot from 2 to 6 feet above ground level where rain can fall unimpeded. We do not ever recommend placement of your rain gauge above roof line as it will be subjected to wind forces that will result in incorrect rain readings (up to 30% less than actual values). For best placement results, the only item which should ever be located above roofline is your anemometer/aerovane. We do not recommend mounting your solar transmitter to your mounting plate instead mount the solar on a fence or post alongside your rain gauge. Mounting a solar transmitter on a rain gauge plate causes an uneven weight distribution and wind profile which can damage the equipment. Mount your solar transmitter on a fence or post alongside your mounting plate for best results.
